The breaking of the vases comes from Jewish mythology. The pure Devine light that god sent to create the human soul was too strong and the vase that contained it exploded. The pieces of the vase scattered around the world, so did the pure light, forcing it to mix with darkness, and creating the dichotomy in humans of good and evil. From there a process of fixing the vases starts, it’s up to each one of us to take part in the process, going thought life, finding the original pieces of uncontaminated light, using them to rebuild a new vase. We aspire to get back to the original state of purity. That’s how we develop, that’s how we get better, that’s how we feel a sense of purpose.
